NAR1 deadlines and fees.
For a local private company, the return date is normally the anniversary of the company’s incorporation or re-domiciliation date. The annual return should be delivered within 42 days after that date.
Current registration fee schedule
The Companies Registry’s published fee schedule for a local private company with share capital is:
| Delivery timing | Fee |
|---|---|
| Within 42 days after the return date | HK$105 |
| More than 42 days, within 3 months | HK$870 |
| More than 3 months, within 6 months | HK$1,740 |
| More than 6 months, within 9 months | HK$2,610 |
| More than 9 months after the return date | HK$3,480 |
The 42-day period includes Sundays and public holidays. Posting early matters: the Registry advises allowing enough time for a mailed return to be received within the statutory period.
How to plan around the date
- Find the incorporation or re-domiciliation date in the company’s records.
- Set the anniversary as the return date for the relevant year.
- Count 42 calendar days after the return date and plan delivery before the end of that window.
- Leave time for checking, signing, payment and delivery—not just PDF preparation.
- If the company has already passed the deadline, use the correct late-fee band rather than assuming the on-time fee.
Delivery options
The Registry describes hard-copy delivery by post or in person, and electronic delivery through its e-Services Portal. A downloaded PDF is not itself a filing. The return must be properly signed and delivered with the correct registration fee.
The guided form shows the estimated due date and fee band as you enter the company’s return date. Treat it as a planning aid and confirm the current official fee before delivery.
