Common NAR1 mistakes to catch before filing.
A form can be complete but still be wrong for the company’s return date. Use this checklist after reusing last year’s data and again after opening the downloaded PDF.
Wrong return date
Do not use the calendar year-end automatically. For the common private-company route, check the incorporation or re-domiciliation anniversary and the 42-day delivery window.
Stale officer particulars
Reused names, addresses or partial identification numbers may no longer match the registered position. Confirm appointments, cessations and changes before signing.
Full identity numbers
The public record uses partial identification particulars. Never paste a full HKID or passport number into the form or into a reusable profile.
Shares do not reconcile
Total shares held by members should agree with the issued-share total. Check jointly held shares and explain any relevant arrangement in the remarks.
Address or name mismatch
Use the company’s registered spelling and the required correspondence address. Small differences can make the generated document inconsistent with the company’s records.
PDF not signed or fee omitted
Downloading the PDF is not filing. Review every page, sign in the required place and deliver the return with the correct registration fee.
Five-minute final review
- Compare the company name and business registration number with the latest registered record.
- Confirm the return date and fee band.
- Check every officer and member name, address and partial identification field.
- Recalculate issued shares against the member schedule.
- Open the PDF, inspect all pages, sign it and deliver it through an accepted channel.
The tool highlights missing or inconsistent answers, but it cannot know whether a registered record is factually correct. Keep the company’s records beside you during the final review.
